Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl

2025 Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl State Champions!

A group of smiling young people, some wearing blue uniforms, holding a large trophy in what appears to be a classroom or office setting.

The Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl is a reading competition team made up of ten 4th and 5th grade students who compete against other schools at the district, regional, divisional, and state levels.

The competition was created by Helen Ruffin, a former media specialist, who wanted to inspire students in grades 4–12 to read and come together for a fun, academic challenge that tests their knowledge of selected books.

Over the past few years, our team has achieved incredible success, winning at the district, regional, and divisional levels, capturing the State Championship in 2021, 2024 and tying for the State Championship in 2020 when the final competition was cancelled due to COVID-19.

We’re looking forward to another exciting and successful season this year!
